What we brought to the fair
At Maker Faire Rome 2025 we set up a photogrammetry rig and put more than 800 people through it in three days. It was the first public outing for DigiDouble.share: fast full-body scanning, automatic processing with Replica3D, delivery of the model on a personal link.
The Maker Faire organisation gave the project a Maker of Merit award.
How it worked for a visitor
- Sign up on the DD.Share platform, about a minute.
- Step into the rig: capture takes around 60 seconds.
- Replica3D processes the photos and builds the 3D model.
- A link arrives with your avatar, to view and share.
Scan to link took between 3 and 15 minutes, so almost everyone had their model on their phone before leaving the stand.
What we learned
The system ran for three days without a stop. 60% of visitors shared their avatar on social media, which for us was the number that mattered: it means the result was good enough to show off. The queue at the stand was also a solid test of how the pipeline copes with a steady stream of people of different heights, clothes and patience.
The fair settled the question "is DigiDouble.share ready for events?". It is.
